Ke$ha

1/22

Wow. Some of Ke$ha’s lyrics… just, wow. Maybe I’m too old? That’s probably it. But if I’m too old, were the eight-year-olds in the audience old enough? Did they understand the lyrics? Should they understand them? I suspect the answer is no to all of these questions. Ahh, parents.

It’s always a struggle to get good shots from the sound desk. I don’t know why some artists don’t want photographers in front of the stage. Timidness, probably. Or, you know, undergarment hesitance? Seems unlikely, given her costume? Maybe she’s been caught out before, who knows. Whatever the reason, Ke$ha had us all quite far away. I think all of the photographers were jealous of the dude with the 600mm (600?!) lens — I know I was. I only had a 200 and a 300, but at least I was better off than the guy who turned up with a 50. Yikes. I had my 14 with me just in case (didn’t need it (comedy!)).

One of my favourite things about shooting concerts is going to gigs I never would normally have gone to. Big Boi was one, and No Sleep Til Sydney another. Ke$ha can safely be added to that list, but it’s always nice to see some excited fans, even if I don’t necessarily share their excitement. All in all, a fun night.

But it would have nice to have been able to shoot the thing from the front!
