“This morning I watched The Castle. This show is going straight to the pool room. I’m not even taking it out of the wrapper!” And with that, the Australian-flag-caped Jimmy Buffett ripped into an amazing Australia Day concert.
The parrot-hat-adorned crowd lapped it up, getting into the margaritas with gusto!
The evening had a sadly abrupt ending when Jimmy fell off the stage. He was rushed to nearby St. Vincent’s hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
Jimmy fell after his encore at the end of the show. I had left hours before, after the first three songs (which is pretty standard for photographers). From what I’ve seen, he fell right where they had me standing… Now that would have been an awesome shot. Plus, you know, I could have broken his fall!
Thanks for a great show, Jimmy — get well soon. Sorry I couldn’t catch you!
